This top level scholarship program was launched by European Comission in May of 2002 during the 2nd summit of European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean (realized in Madrid). Their objectives are to reinforce the cooperation between European Union and Latin America in top education, to raise the education opportunities and quality formation in Europe for Latin America citizens and reinforce capacities of human resources and raise competence of Latin America citizens in their native country. Alßan has a forseen duration untill 2010 and their total budget is 113,5 millon euros (145,1 million dollars aprox.), of which 75 million euros (96 million dollars aprox.) correspond to financial contribution of European Union. The next announcement to Alßan Programme will be in September to December of this year, during which interested people could send their applications for 2007-2008 academic year.
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship from European Union Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the scope of university education that contributes to the European Union to be an excellence center in learning at world-wide level by means of support to interuniversity masters. Besides, gives scholarships to Third World natives (in case of Peru) who participate in this post degree european programmes, as well as scholarships for European Union natives who study outside the EU. Erasmus Mundus allows you to receive an 21 thousand euros scholarship (more than 26 thousand US dollars) for academic year, to participate in one of 57 Master’s degree courses selected in programme. Besides, you will be covered by an life insurance against accidents an dissability throughout postgraduate. This postgraduate course programme of the European Commission has been so popular since its launch in 2004 that has been extended to suit the demands. Actually there are 57 courses to choose, that goes from engineering to Laws, extending to life sciences, social sciences, business, economy and humanities. The European Comunity has selected during the 2006-2007 academic year 1377 students and 231 university teachers to participate in programme.
